My child's autistic, now what?

So your child's been diagnosed with ASD. Or they're on the pathway to get an assessment. Or you're pretty sure they are autistic because you actually do know your child really well. Now you might be asking yourself what support is there for my autistic child and what support is there for me as a parent of an autistic child? In fact, if you've already started looking you might have found, at least in terms of services, the answer is not a lot.
With All In, I'm definitely looking at how we can challenge 'the system' to improve the way autistic children and their families are supported. And at the same time, I'm asking myself how can I empower people with the skills and understanding to support themselves and their children.
In my next webinar I draw on my experience and training with SEN to give parents and caregivers a solid foundational understadning of what, why and how autism is. We'll then go beyond understanding and draw on ideas from psychotherapy for practical tools and ideas around support.
These are two two-hour long sessions taking place online on 8th and 15th April. I know I've sometimes left a training session thinking that's great but how do I actually work with this in practice? What I hope is that people people will walk away from these two sessions with is a sense of what the support looks like when applied to their unique circumstances.
What do those ideas from psychotherapy look like?
what does empathy towards my child really look like
why behaviourism without empathy doesn't work
the dialectics of acceptance (for myself, my child and my situation) and change
what mindfulness actually is and what it can be used for
moving towards being driven by values rather than dysregulated emotions
compassion and attachment - the difference it make for ourselves and our relationships.
There are still tickets available for this webinar so if you've found yourself nodding along as you've been reading, consider heading over to https://tinyurl.com/23tzprt6 to book your place.
